When silent operations are absolutely critical, or when you somply run out of ammunition, the combat knife can be your best friend. Knives were used in WWII for both hand-to-hand combat, and for slitting the throats of unsuspecting people when the combatant was attempting to be silent. The German Fighting Knife or Boot Knife is usually a simple knife, with a wooden grip, used for various tasks besides close combat. Many different knifes was used by the Wermacht's troopers, mass producted and custom ones too. They have two common features, they were well usable and simple.
