A freighter/transport, with a long history, the Ju 52 is the workhorse of the Luftwaffe. It has been used to transport supplies, troops, paratroopers, has worked as a trainer, and has even been modified to operate as a minesweeper. It normally has only one, rear-facing dorsal machine gun for defensive purposes, though it is designed to hold more if needed.
